Workshop topics

  • Find your flow
Flow is what happens when you’re in the zone. You’re lost in a project, time slips by, and you’re killing it. When you’re in flow, you do your best work, and you’re productive without even trying. In this workshop we look at the five elements of flow, identify your personal flow triggers, and explore simple tools for crafting a more productive and enjoyable working week.
  • Rock the routine
In this workshop, we look at how habits, routines, and resolutions can reduce your mental load, freeing you to spend your energy where it really matters. We’ll look at using systems to do your thinking for you, and at how the right habits can set you up to live a freer, better, more focused life. We’ll also explore proven ways to form habits that actually work. (That 21-days-to-form-a-habit thing? Yeah, there’s zero evidence for that.) You’ll leave feeling motivated and energised, ready to transform your day-to-day from humdrum to rocking-it.
  • Tweak your week (How to think like a productivity superstar, and still have a life)
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to: think like a personal assistant (manage your commitments with clear-headed confidence), think like a game developer (work quickly, flexibly, and iteratively), and think like a project manager (turn big projects and goals into concrete action plans). You’ll leave this workshop with a raft of productivity tools that are easy to put into practice, and a personal plan for changes you will make to become a productivity superstar. Go you good thing!

How I roll

In my workshops, interesting ideas meet concrete action. You will learn about the many ways that human brains are endlessly fascinating, but you will also leave with a personal-to-you plan for easy steps you can take starting today.

The tools that we look at are proven to work for real people by actual, top-notch* scientific research. (I am a fully-signed-up, die-hard believer in academic rigour.) But we won’t get deep into the science or use lots of jargon. Just straight-up, easy-to-grasp info that you can put into action straight away.

“OK, Christina,” I hear you say, “so your know your stuff. But what makes you the right person to run these workshops?”

I hear ya. Knowing your stuff doesn’t automatically make you a good teacher, right? So let me reassure you, firstly, that I know how to talk about my stuff. I am skilled in breaking down big ideas, and have spent years teaching scientists how to talk about science like normal people.

And secondly, I am an expert in asking great questions. If I just stand there and talk at you, you’re not going to take much away. Instead, I ask the right questions to get a discussion going where everybody’s input is welcome and valued.** (And just to toot my own horn some more, I’m an award-winning practitioner and teacher of this facilitation style.)

This makes our time together interactive and collaborative. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions and discuss ideas. But I will never, ever single you out to answer a surprise question, or “volunteer” you to act something out up the front. (Though hey, you’re welcome to volunteer yourself!)***

So, summing up:  An interactive workshop where your input will be valued. You’ll learn fascinating stuff about how your brain works, and walk out with a personal action plan.

That’s how I roll.

*That’s peer-reviewed, for all the scholars in the room.

**This is called the Socratic Method, or “Community of Inquiry”, for all the philosophers and educators in the room.

***Shout-out to all the theatre kids in the room. (I do love a good footnote.)

Have me come to you

Interested in having me speak to your group? Here’s the nitty gritty: My workshops run for four hours (3.5 hours plus a 25-minute break), and start at $2,095 for workshops in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia, plus $20 per participant to cover material costs. For workshops further afield, please get in touch to discuss logistics and pricing.

The ideal group size is 10–20 workshop participants – small enough for plenty of discussion, big enough for diverse viewpoints – but all workshops can be adapted for smaller or larger groups.
